Pairs Tournament
A pairs game of Go is a game between two teams, each team consisting of a male and a female. The male and female alternate play with each move so that a player only plays half the moves normally played. The important rule is that there is no communication allowed between partners on a team.
The fascination of this format is that each player must try to understand the meaning of his or her partners move to ensure correct followup.
Each player receives points for participation and winning which contribute to the selection of a team to compete in the annual World Pairs Tournament held in Tokyo.
