Young Tian Yu lost in the main section to Kevin Xu (see draw above) but prevailed in the loser section to earn a second challenge to Kevin. Winning the challenge game forced a third match against these two and Tian Yu was the big winner.

Second - Peter Wu - 3 dan (Edmonton)

Andrew, losing in the second round against Alexis Liu from Toronto had to win against Tony Adria, young Feng Ruichen, Hartmut Von Gaza, Alexis and Naiting Liu to meet Peter again. He had to defeat Peter twice as this is double elimination and Peter was so far undefeated. Andrew prevailed.

This was a long draw having 11 entries. Andrew won 7/9 rounds.
