One should not give students the tests until they have made a thorough study of the problems. The tests only affirm that they have done this. The expectation should be therefore 100% on each test. To do this the students should purchase the books. If a student gets less than 90% (1 in 10 wrong or incomplete) he must pass an equivalent test before being allowed to take the next one.

Motivation for passing with 100% must be very high.

If the instructor is suspicious that the student is not up to the test he can do a random sample direct from the book af say 4 or 5 problems. If 1 is wrong tell the student he is not ready for the test.
