Alberta Open - 2007 - Edmonton (31 entries)

This tournament had the first team match between Edmonton and Calgary. Each team nominated 6 players in seeded order. The two number 1's played 1 game and so on. The games were weighted. Top seed - 1.5 points, 2'nd game 1.4 points and so on. Although Luke won the top match for 1.5 points over Wei Cheng the others did not and Calgary easily took home the team trophy. We hope this becomes an annual contest of great interest and competition. The new Alberta champion is Henry Zheng of Calgary. Henry was undefeated until Liang Yu upset him in the 4'th round. Liang held off the final challenge by Wei Cheng (Cal) in the semi final round to earn a final challenge against Henry in the final. The last 2 matches were held in Calgary where Henry prevailed. Congratulations Henry.
